3 things you think are problems but aren’t

So you think you have a problem.

Let’s talk about it, shall we?

I get it. You’re (pick one):

  • Unhappy

  • Frustrated

  • Exhausted

  • Overwhelmed

  • Confused

  • Riddled with self-doubt

  • Plagued with constant low-level anxiety

  • Totally underwhelmed with your life

So, do you have a problem?

Yeah. Probably.

Or, the way I like to think about - you have some opportunities. #spincity

The key to fixing a problem is to fix the RIGHT PROBLEM

If you have a collapsed lung and I’m treating you for a broken leg, your collapsed lung isn’t going anywhere, know what I mean?

And some of y’all are spending way too much of your precious time and energy trying to fix things that aren’t even problems.

And this means you’re overlooking:

  • Opportunities

  • What’s already working

  • New solutions

So here are 3 things I see people trying to “fix” that aren’t even problems to begin with:

Non-problem #1: Sometimes you feel like butt

So you feel unmotivated, ashamed, tired, stressed, angry, sad, or some other kind of butt feeling?

Cool. Me too.

Cause we’re humans and not psychopaths or robots. Yay for us.

Listen - Feeling “bad” doesn’t always mean something bad.

It doesn’t mean something has gone wrong.

Some of y'all think FEELING BAD = BAD = BETTER NOT DO THAT

But those butt feelings might be actually be a GIANT ARROW pointing you toward your growth.

Feelings are just information. Nothing more.

And sometimes you just have to lean in and feel those feels.

Non-problem #2: You doubt yourself

Doubt tends to come up when you’re doing something you’ve never done before.

I get it, confidence feels amazing.

Don’t we all love to know we’re going to go out there and crush it? Hell yeah. I know I do.

But if you’re challenging yourself and doing something new, you have zero evidence from your past experiences that you can actually do it. Much less, crush it.

Sure, you see other people who are less smart, hard working, or capable than you out there doing the damn thing.

But you don’t know if YOU can do it.

This is totally normal.

Listen, Friend. The reality is that CONFIDENCE COMES LAST.

It comes AFTER you go out there, do the thing, f*ck it up, and then learn and do it again and again.

So don’t let self-doubt stop you. It’s not a problem.

The only problem is you thinking it’s a problem.

Non-problem #3: You don’t know “how”

Podcasts and blog posts and online tutorials - OH MY!

And they’re all saying something different. WTF.

Plus, I hate to break it to you this way - Just because someone else’s “how” worked for them, doesn’t mean it will work for you.

So what do you do?

Listen - how’d you learn to ride a bike?

It sure wasn’t from reading instructions, attending a webinar, or downloading a plan from an “expert.”

Here’s how:

  • You decided you wanted to learn how to ride a bike

  • You got on the damn bike

  • You fell…a lot

  • You didn’t give up

  • And you kept getting up and climbing back on the bike until you finally nailed it.

THIS IS YOUR HOW - for just about everything.

Sometimes your only problem is thinking you have a problem

  • What if being afraid wasn’t a problem?

  • What if your lack of confidence wasn’t a problem?

  • What if the absence of a step-by-step wikihow wasn’t a problem?

Maybe if you remove all these so-called problems you also remove all the things that are holding you back.

Maybe this is what it feels like to be unstoppable.

Now get on that bike.

You’ve got things to do.
