3 signs you’re ready to go after what you want

You know that thing you really want?

Maybe you haven’t even said it out loud because OMG IF YOU SAY IT OUT LOUD IT’S LIKE A REAL THING AND THEN YOU HAVE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU DON’T HAVE IT RIGHT NOW AND ALSO IT FEELS IMPOSSIBLE AND THAT FEELS LIKE HOT TRASH AND YOU DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THAT SO LET’S JUST SQUASH IT.

[Sometimes I like to write inner dialogue panic in all caps for dramatic effect]

Listen, I get it. I’ve been there.

But if you’re stuck on the “READY” part of Ready, Set, Go - I’ve got you.

Here are 3 signs you’re ready to take the next step.

1 - You want it

Do you have a little voice inside that wants something “more”?

Cool. That’s all the justification you need.

A lot of us have been taught that our desires aren’t safe. They can’t be trusted. So we push them down and tell them to be quiet.

But when the desire doesn’t go away, we learn that WE are somehow wrong. That if we want “more,” then we’re selfish and greedy and ungrateful.

Honoring your desire for more is an exercise in self-trust. And self-trust is a critical element of self-confidence.

2 - You’re not sure if it’s possible for you

…But you’re saying there’s a chance.

Sure, it feels like a 1% chance, but it exists. And I’m here to tell you that’s enough.

Every dream starts off feeling impossible.

I’m typing this on a laptop, with wireless internet, which is connected to a modem and electricity in my home in Denver, Colorado. And after I hit “publish,” you’ll be able to read it on your phone or laptop with the internet wherever you are.

30 years ago this would’ve sounded impossible. But now it’s so commonplace we don’t even think about it.

It doesn’t matter if the thing you want feels impossible. That’s just the starting line.

And if you’re at the starting line, it means you’re in the race.

The question is, “Is it possible that you’re wrong about it being impossible?”

And if the answer is “yes,” then take a step.

3 - You don’t know if you’re really ready

There’s really only one way to find out if you’re ready.

You don’t need to know the exact “how.” - You’ll figure that out as you go. [Click here to watch my video on this process]

You don’t need to know if people will like it.

You don’t need to know if it will work out.

You don’t need to know that you can do it.

The only thing you really need to know is that you’re going to have your back, no matter what.

You need to know that you’re going to figure it out. You’re going to be kind to yourself. And you’re going to learn a lot along the way.

This is how my most successful clients blow their own minds. This is how you make “impossible” into “possible.” And “possibility” into “reality.”

From feeling lost to being featured in the New York Times

When Tirzah hired me last May, she was overworked and underpaid.
And she didn't know what to do.

She didn't feel ready to hire a coach. But she did it anyway.
She didn't feel ready to start a business. But she did it anyway.
She didn't feel ready to publish her website or post online. She did it anyway.

Tirzah chose to feel brave [and annoyed with me :) ] over feeling ready.

And in less than 12 months she quit her job, launched a business, and got fully booked.

But she says it better than me (click to watch this 1-minute video):
